Interactive Installation / 2018 / Supported by
Soapboxscience + Manchester Bluedot Festival
This is a social organisation Soapboxscience (http://soapboxscience.org/) “launched by the” twelve women scientists working with twelve female artists of the propaganda of scientific knowledge “. One of the venues for this event is the 2018 Manchester Bluedot festival.
This installation was created by me in collaboration with Spanish scientist Ana payopayo to promote science and the environment to the public. Plastic led to a large number of seabirds choked to death, in order to more vivid purpose of propaganda, allow the public to put themselves in consider the situation of seabirds, I will death data of seabirds and Marine pollution threat to humanity printed onto the plastic bags, need to enjoy it in your head into the plastic bags to read the contents of the inside, and at the same time, the experience will feel difficult to breathe and experience to the feeling of the seabirds.
Globally, 91% of plastic is not recycled. Most of this plastic is not biodegradable, and it can be hundreds or even thousands of years old. Seabirds are facing a serious plastic threat. The cormorant is a seabird whose garbage is released into the ocean due to the overproduction of plastics, leading to the suffocation of many seabirds. Not only are Marine life endangered, but the cormorant could disappear by 2050 if humans don’t stop it.
